Family Counseling Services Announces Retirement of Executive Director Lynn Momberger and Appointment of Incoming CEO Stan Goral
Rockford, IL — December 5, 2025 — Family Counseling Services of Northern Illinois (FCS) today announces the retirement of Executive Director Lynn Momberger after five years of dedicated service and transformative leadership. Lynn’s tenure has been marked by organizational growth, strengthened community partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality mental health services for individuals and families throughout the region.
Under Lynn’s leadership, FCS enhanced its sliding-scale counseling model, expanded programming for underserved communities, strengthened internship and workforce development pathways for emerging therapists, managed a series of successful fundraising initiatives, including Dancing with the Rockford Stars and Brunch on the Deck, and built meaningful collaborations with schools, healthcare partners, and local agencies. Her compassionate leadership and vision have left an enduring legacy that will continue to shape FCS for years to come.
FCS Welcomes New Chief Executive Officer, Stan Goral
Family Counseling Services is also proud to announce that Stan Goral has been selected as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer, officially joining the team on November 10, 2025. Stan previously served as the FCS Board President and has been a volunteer board member for the past decade. He resigned his board position to accept this leadership role.
Born, raised, and educated in the Rockford community, Stan is deeply rooted in the region’s values and spirit. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Rockford University, with an emphasis in Finance and Marketing. Stan brings 35 years of private-sector experience across sales, marketing, operations, and practice management.
Stan’s relationship with Family Counseling Services spans ten years, beginning as Events & Fundraising Chairman, then joining the Board’s Executive Committee, and ultimately serving three years as Board President. His transition from governance to operational leadership marks an exciting new chapter for FCS.

FCS Welcomes Board President, Jennifer Paterson
Jennifer Paterson first joined the FCS family as a volunteer dancer, alongside her husband, Mike, at DWTRS. From there, she stepped into board service and has since contributed as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and now President. Her deep understanding of FCS operations and her commitment to our mission make her an invaluable leader, and we are truly grateful to her for embracing this role earlier than she originally planned.
